The problem: You clicked "Extend Music" from your song library, then stared at a blank screen wondering if anything was happening.
Our solution: We built two distinct loading experiences:
- Coming from another page? You see a full-screen loader with clear status messages
- Opening a dropdown manually? Loading happens inside the dropdown, so you can still see the page
Why it matters: No more "is this broken?" moments. You always know what's happening.
Lazy Loading Architecture
Developer confession: Our initial version loaded all your songs, videos, and WAV files simultaneously when you opened "My Songs." On a slow connection? That's 30+ seconds of waiting.
The fix: We implemented tab-based lazy loading. Now we only fetch what you're actually viewing:
- Switch to "Songs" tab → Load songs
- Switch to "Videos" tab → Load videos
- Switch to "WAVs" tab → Load WAVs
Result: Page loads 3x faster, and you're not wasting bandwidth on data you don't need.
Unified Song Selection
The pattern we noticed: Every tool (vocal remover, music video, extend music, WAV converter) needed to let you pick a song. We were duplicating code and creating inconsistent experiences.
Our solution: We built a reusable useLazySongLoader hook that:
- Handles loading states intelligently
- Supports filtering (e.g., vocal remover only shows songs with vocals)
- Supports custom selection logic (e.g., WAV converter matches both song ID and track index)
- Provides consistent UX across all tools
For developers: This is the kind of abstraction that makes features faster to build and bugs easier to fix. One hook, six features, zero inconsistencies.

The flow we optimized: You're browsing your songs → Click "Extend Music" → The tool opens with your song already selected and ready to extend.
